Concealed carry and personal defense ammunition is redefined with the introduction of Hornady Critical Defense ammunition. You may have never thought about the effects of fabric and clothing on the performance of personal defense ammo. But clothing — especially heavy clothing — has a lot to do with how the bullet expands upon impact. It's a dirty little secret, but conventional hollow point bullets often experience tip clogging as the bullet passes through light and heavy clothing, which diminishes expansion and causes unreliable bullet performance. Hornady Critical Defense ammunition eliminates clogging with the use of their patented Flex Tip® bullet. Upon entering soft tissue, the tip swells and imparts equal pressure across the entire circumference of the bullet cavity. The result is unrivaled bullet expansion and performance every single time!

This is loaded ammunition.

Terrible results from my Bodyguard 2.0. These would not feed the first round from a loaded magazine, as the edge of the bullet jacket would jam tight at the base of the barrel ramp. Only by pushing a cartridge forward slightly in the mag, then hitting the slide release could I get the first round to feed. In testing 5 mags, I had multiple failures to feed.

Then comes the accuracy part. These grouped inconsistent patterns (can't call them "groups") at 16 yards benched. I commonly encountered wild, inexplicable fliers, with no group consistency. Reverting to some Remington UMC 88 gr JHP, the Bodyguard 2.0 grouped as expected, which was tighter and far more consistent. I definitely can't even consider these as a SD carry round.
