Barnes 165 grain TTSX

This is my first time using all-copper bullets in my 300 WSM for elk hunting. I'm very impressed with the velocity and accuracy the Barnes TTSX produces in my handloads and look forward to using them this fall.

Barnes 165gr. TTSX

I bought these bullets to compare with another ballistic tip bullet that I load and was not able to get at the time. I am verry impressed with the performance and knockdown power of this bullet. This is the first Barnes product that I have used and I'm sure I will use others after using this one.

165 gr ttsx Elk Hunt

My .300 Win Mag is loaded with 165 grain Barnes TTSX at a muzzle velocity of approximately 3150 fps.
Four days ago, I harvested an elk with that bullet. The elk was at 250 yards. The bullet entered the left shoulder and exited low on the far neck. The results were as claimed by Barnes. The elk went down immediately. Note that one petal apparently broke from the bullet and traveled back into the the abdominal cavity. I believe this was due to the speed at impact with the bones of the shoulder.
All in all an excellent performance. I will use this bullet and powder combination on my next elk hunt.
