With its combination of proven materials, innovative design and streamlined profile, the Hornady® V-MAX® represents the pinnacle of what a specialized varmint bullet can achieve, offering straight-line trajectories, enhanced accuracy, dramatic expansion and explosive fragmentation at a wide range of distances and velocities.

The industry's leading varmint bullet with polymer tip and streamlined design results in flat trajectories. The concentricity of the match grade AMP® bullet jacket provides maximum accuracy at all ranges as well as explosive expansion, even at velocities as low as 1600 fps.

  • POLYMER TIP: The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-Max® is a hollow cavity resting between the tip's shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities.
  • HIGHER BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT: Hornady® combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with the most aerodynamic profile for a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX® profile also provides the maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability.
  • SWAGED LEAD CORE: The swaging process allows precise formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity under the tip's stem. This allows the tip to build up energy before smashing into the core, causing dramatic fragmentation of the core and jacket.
  • PRECISE BOATTAIL & FLATBASE DESIGNS: Utilizing the proper base design provides incredible in-flight stability for long-range shooting.

The .224 60gr VMax is a great bullet in my 224 Valkyrie sub MOA groups all day long.

HORNADY 22c (.224) 60gr V-MAX BULLET 100/BX

Hornady's .224 60gr V-Max provides me with consistent sub 1/2" groups out of my 1:8 twist .223 Wylde. The bullet design has amazing terminal ballistics on varmints and other small game. Loaded with xx.x gr of Vargot allows for sub MOA at 300 yards and in from a rest. Hornady's quality is hard to beat for the price of a box of 100 bullets. I would recommend this round to anyone who wants to have dependable accuracy coupled with high terminal ballistics
round for small game hunting.

Very Good Bullet

These shoot exceptionally well in my .223AI and .223, 1-9 twist. With Varget and Shooters World precision powder they have grouped under and inch at 300 yards consistently.

Hornady 60 gr Vmax .224

I waited until I had the chance to give them some range time with different loads. They shot very well. The group that shot the best was xx grains of Varget. The CFE223 shot very well also. These were through a Tikka 223 w/1×8 twist.

Hornady 224 VMax 60gr

Shoot these out of a lightweight AR15 I built with a Faxon 5R Gunner barrel. Gun shoots about 0.75 moa with these bullets and a load of AR Vomp I have optimizef for this rifle. Not bad for a hunting round. I give these loads a slight crimp with a Lee Factory Crimp die.

Nice Bullet

Nice and accurate in my AR with 1:7 twist. Produces reasonably nice tight groups. I am still developing my load for my new AR, but so far sub 1" groups at 25 and 50 yards are not a problem using BL-C(2) powder and Winchester Small Rifle primers and heavy collet style crimp (because there is no cannelure on these bullets). Once I get the powder charge right I am confident that these will print very tight groups. I highly recommend for .223/5.56 NATO rifles with 1:9 or faster rifling.
