Completely uniform in size, weight, and roundness. Cold swaging from pure lead eliminates air pockets and voids common to cast balls. And the smoother, rounder surface of a Hornady round ball assures better rotation for consistent accuracy.

I bought these to try in buck and ball shot shells

I didn't feel like casting .575 balls so I purchased these .570 and found a shot cup they fit snuggly in so I can load 20 gauge buck and ball loads. You could use #2 buck but I have #4 so that what I'm using. Eight pellets of #4 on the bottom, buffered and then the .570 ball, covered with an over shot card for peace of mind, but the buffer isn't leaking past the ball. They are accurate even out of a short smooth cylinder bore with Lyman published one ounce Herco data.

Hornady .570 cal. round ball

Very uniform in both size and weight. Shoots quite accurately as a patched ball in my T/C smoothbore barrel.
