What is Vihtavuori N555 best for?

N555 is built for precision rifle competitors and hunters who need the same point of impact in summer heat and winter cold. Vihtavuori highlights its performance in the 6.5 Creedmoor in particular. The anti-fouling agent reduces barrel fouling over long strings of fire, which helps during extended competition stages.

Which rifle cartridges does N555 suit?

Beyond the Creedmoor cartridges, N555 suits cartridges with large case volume relative to bullet diameter, a group that includes the .284 Winchester and .260 Remington. Vihtavuori states that its lot-to-lot consistency reduces the range time spent re-developing loads when you open a new container. Always confirm charges against current Vihtavuori reloading data.

Is N555 a good hunting powder?

Yes. Vihtavuori notes that hunters, as well as competitive shooters, benefit from its insensitivity in extreme weather, so a load developed at the range in summer stays dependable on a cold hunting morning. That stability is the main reason reloaders choose N555 over more temperature-sensitive rifle powders.
